Introduction to Learning Analytics (EDTC 5720)

C_OvermanPosterProject

In EDTC 5720, I was given my first introduction to the vast field of learning analytics and its importance within the larger field of educational technology. I learned about the many pragmatic usages of the learning analytics field (detailed above, but in short: being able to accurately predict student behavior based on the tracking of specific data), as well as the challenges it faces in its larger implementation into the field of education. For our final project in the course, we were instructed to create a poster, similar to one that could be used as a conference presentation aid, where we detailed not only information about the larger field of learning analytics, but also focused on a specific case study that examined a use of learning analytics in the educational environment. Above, you can see the poster that I created as my final project in the course, where I examined a case where students were tracked while working on a collaborative group activity and the data gathered about them was inputted into a learning analytics system in order to be studied and tracked for trends.
